Horse rides, walks and outings by car
During your stay you will get to know the meandering valley of Rio Belgrano and the great del Aguila or Asador plateau. You will pass through different environments: golden coirón grasslands, shrubby areas with mata torcida (Nardophyllum obtusifolium), mata mora (Senecio filaginoides) and neneo (Mulinum spinosum). You’ll also have every chance of spotting Andean condors, eagles, hawks, geese, guanacos and foxes.
As you gain altitude, in between humid canyons where meadows and flood meadows with lush grasses form, you can gaze over huge panoramas of Lakes Belgrano and Burmeister which lie within Perito Moreno National Park, our neighbour. Remains from the Tehuelche culture can be found in different places, and of particular interest are the “picaderos” (area where these indigenous peoples worked on stone) and a series of stone parapets which were part of an ancient camp site and which is currently being studied by a group of archaeologists.
If you decide to use Menelik as a place to spend the night, you can visit the Perito Moreno National Park with your car, announcing your arrival at the Onelli park warden’s station, where you will receive information and suggestions for your visit.
